The period of the republic of China was the historical stage of the larger development of the textbook illustration level.After decades of development in the republic of China,illustrations have become part of the textbook,which has influenced the compilation of the illustrations of history textbooks.In 2016,the history textbook of the new section of the new department of junior high school embodies the meaning of the history of the image and indicates that the trend of the history of image history has not faded.In addition,the research on the history of the people has provided a good opportunity for the research.The history textbook illustration is influenced by the government’s will and social environment,and its modernization is an important embodiment of the modernization of textbooks.This paper discusses the development characteristics of the history textbooks in the period of the republic of China,and puts forward some ideas on this basis.Division method,based on the common history during the period of the republic of China,the evolution of the middle school history textbook illustrations development according to the period of Beijing government and nanjing government,the two times separately in this paper.The period of the Beijing government was divided into the two phases:before the Ren-xu School System(1912-1922)and after the Ren-xu School System(1922-1927).The period of the nanjing government was divided into three stages:before the Anti-Japanese War(1927-1937),the Anti-Japanese War(1937-1945)and the victory of the Anti-Japanese War(1945-1949).At the beginning of the republic of China,it was the stage of the study of the western learning and the imitation of the compilation.The illustrations of high school history textbooks are more traditional.Established at the beginning of the government of the republic of China is an urgent need to use history textbooks for democracy and patriotic propaganda,many of the concept exist in the history textbook illustrations.In addition,the illustration of high school history textbooks is influenced by western historiography and aesthetic trends.After the establishment of nanjing national government,the status of the textbook illustration was higher than that of the Beijing government.The combination of western historiography and the history textbooks of high schools is further combined with the illustration of historical textbook illustration."Satirical illustrations used many times,indicates that Chinese history textbook compilers already by learning,to copy western historiography illustrations into on the basis of "internalized absorption" highlights the political ideology.After the outbreak of the war,the quality of the illustrated of history textbooks declined significantly.Due to the constraints of the war environment,there is a reduction in the interplanting of the history textbooks and foreign history textbooks in secondary schools.This is a time when women’s consciousness in history textbooks has been enhanced,and it is evident in the illustration.After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War,as the education demobilized the work,the selection and painting of the history textbooks of high schools were gradually normalized.A large number of pictures illustrate the combination of text and illustrations,making the illustration system more complete.Meanwhile,the use of the cover illustration has broken the long-standing notion that historians have long held in the cover.Illustrated in this paper,through the analysis of different period style,selection principle and its historical background,aimed at illustration shows that during the period of the republic of China as a whole style and features and its role in the process of the modernization in the textbook.The evolution of the history textbook illustrations,during the period of the republic of China is in the development of Chinese history,western historiography thoughts and art development trend of the common influence of many factors.The status of the illustration went through the process of the initial emergence and development of the organic components of the historical textbook framework.In this paper,by analyzing the different period of the republic of China history textbook illustration style,selection principle and background,tries to reveal its overall style and features and its role in the process of the modernization in the textbook.
