In order to promote and guarantee the professional development of headmaster,many countries and regions in the world formulate the Standards for School Leaders,which all happen to coincide the capacity of school development planning.However,not each principal can do a good job in the planning of school development.During this process,some of them misunderstand their roles,which hinder the school development tremendously.With the wonder of what the roles of principals are in the school development planning on earth,we carry out this research.This thesis can be divided into five parts:Part 1,The Introduction.This part mainly introduce the background,significance and purpose,ideas and methods of the research,also explain the meaning and finish a literature review of three core concepts of the research,including school development planning,the role of the principle,and school community.Part 2,The disorders in roles of principal in school development planning.The cognitive bias of principals and the restriction of institution and policy hamper the implementing of school development planning.Subjectively,some principals are perfunctory,egoistic and mindless,which disclose their cognitive bias.Objectively,the pressure from the government,frequent staff transfer of principals and concentration of principals' power impede the school development.The subjective and objective factors interweave,lead to the disorders in roles of principal,thus bringing negative influences on the development of the school.Part 3,The connotation of school development planning.In this part,we focus on school development and its planning,hold the opinion that the connotation development is the value orientation of school development,and the school development planning is the most effective way.School development planning is dynamic and circulatory,containing school situation analysis,formulating planning textbook,implementing,monitoring and assessing the plan,which center on the top design of school closely.Part 4,Relying on the school community to carry out the school development planning.In view of the disorders in roles of principal,we think that relying on the school community can reduce those negative impacts.Specifically,in this part,we discuss the concept and connotation of school community;summarize the feature of school community.We think that the members of the school community are the subjects in the school development planning,in which the principal is the major one.We also explain the reasons of relying on the school community and the ways to rely on.Part 5,The roles of principal in school development planning.The school community emphasizes the principal and other members are all subjects,in which the principal is the dominator.According to the process of school development and the meaning of school community and distributed leadership,we put forward five roles of principal in school development planning,and make analysis about their responsibilities,rights and functions.These roles are the leader in top-level design,the planner in school situation analysis,the organizer in formulating planning textbook,the coordinator in plan implementing,the regulator in plan monitoring and assessing.
