Boredom is the compound emotional state of an individual in the face of poor environmental stimuli.It is resulted in indifference and helplessness and other unpleasant complex emotional state,regarded as an unpleasant experience,lack of stimulation and low arousal emotions.Under the condition of boredom,individuals in such a state will be adversely affected in mental health,such as reducing the efficiency of work,and affecting the academic performance in school.The breeding and spreading of the boredom emotional state in adolescents are more and more popular.The important reasons for this problem are lack of a sense of social activities and thoughts,empty goals and ideas.Adolescents with high boredom are prone to problems such as poor interpersonal relationships,poor coping skills and poor academic performance.Therefore,this study is to investigate the current high school students' sense of boredom,and then explore the relationship among boredom,ego identity and coping styles.By drawing on the experience of the former scholar,the group counseling program is designed to reduce the high level of boredom.This study,with the Adolescent Boredom Syndrome scale,the modified EOMEIS-2 and the Coping Style Scale of Middle School Students,investigated 725 high school students,and intervented the 10 selected high boredom students with the method of group counseling.The conclusions are as follows:(1)There is no significant difference between high school students' sense of boredom in the place of origin and only child.Male students' sense of boredom was significantly higher than that of female students.High school students in grade one are significantly bored than the other grade students.(2)Boredom has a significant correlation with the four states of ego-identity,which has a significant negative correlation with the identity achievement,and has a significant positive correlation with the identity moratorium,the identity foreclosure and the identity diffusion.There is a significant negative correlation between boredom and solving-problem in coping style,and is significantly positively correlated with retreat,fantasy,vent and endurance.(3)The identity diffusion of ego identity is significantly positively correlated with the vent,fantasy and endurance of coping style,and negatively correlated with solving-problem.The identity achievement,the identity moratorium and the identity foreclosure of ego identity has a significant positive correlation with the six dimensions of the coping styles.(4)Ego identity plays a partial mediating role in the influence of boredom on coping styles.(5)The group counseling activities designed in this study can significantly reduce the high level of boredom for the high school students.
