There are a lot of studies which explore the relationship between the spirituality and mental health in foreign countries. However, the research which is on this field of spirituality in China is very rare, especially for middle school students. This study is about the spirituality for middle school students. This paper discusses the current situation of middle school students’ mental health, as well as the relationship between the spirituality and mental health. This study can enrich the domestic research on spirituality and also provide empirical data for spiritual education among middle school students.By analysizing the relevant research both in China and abroad, and combining the data with the Chinese culture, the author define the spirituality and construct the model of mental structure. The study get the spiritual scale of middle students by testing the middle school students of Guangzhou with questionnaire and individual interview so on. In the last, the author test the middle school students of Guangzhou and Yunfu with the scale above, getting 883 valid questionnaires. The main methods of this study are t-test, analysis of variance and regression analysis and other statistical methods.The main results are as follows:(1) Spirituality is a personalized and open internal support system, which can influnce the person from cognition and will.(2) The spiritual scale of middle school students has 30 items which include six dimensions: relationship and love, including seven items; Self and will, including five items; Self and love, including five items; Relationship and will, including five items;Self and knowledge, including four items; Knowledge and time, including four items.(3) The spiritual score of middle school students is at average level, and there has difference in gender and so on.(4) There has a certain relationship between spirituality with coping styles. The coefficient of positive coping style and spirituality is 0.196.
