Problem based learning is a teaching method recognized by more and more teachers and widely applied in teaching practice. It stresses that study should be designed in a complex, authentic and meaningful problem situation. By solving the problems cooperatively, students gain development of ability and construction of knowledge. However, the problems now raised in the classroom teaching are mostly abstract and without situation. They are well structured problems strictly distinguished between right and wrong. Learners' active discovery and definition are neglected in the establishment of problem situation. Nor are complexity and ill-structure of the authentic problems.Nowadays, problem situation has been narrowed in order to achieve the teaching goals in subject teaching. Aimed at this phenomenon, this essay explores the teaching research centered in ill-structured problem design. Based on actual teaching situation of high school information course in China, it explains the establishment of problem situation primarily from several aspects of ill-structured problem situation such as its effects, formation and characters. Chapter one and two deal with the significance of the subject study and literature review related. In chapter three, it mainly explains how four factors affect and play a part in the ill-structured problem situation, which include teachers, students, learning materials and learning environment. It also analyses several types of classroom teaching from the perspective of linkage of all factors. From the angle of ill-structured problem definition, chapter four explains its classification and significance and studies the effects of the ill-structured problem in three vague states as well. Meanwhile, what good ill-structured problem situation should accord with has been explored. Chapter five deals with the process of ill-structured problem situation design through the general procedure of problem solving. With the help of analysis of practical teaching cases, it indicates the thoughts and process of ill-structured problem situation design.
