This thesis focuses on the study of the illustrations for academic works of social science.By researching the current statement of illustrations for academic books on social science,I found they were usually of simple forms, rough images and basically only graphic, while the qualities of books were barely conveyed. However,it has a significant influence on reader's aesthetic tastes. This thesis aims at the discus-sion on how authors manage to attribute independence,as well as the accuracy and artistry in this type of illustrations, also how they advance from traditional illustrations on social science which were stuck in merely expressing the literal content. Thus they successfully created more various content structures for these illustrations, more delicate emotions and abstract philosophy reflected from the original thoughts.Under the instruction of such theory, the author created a series of illustration practices for the book Peasant Life in China by Fei Xiaotong. |
