Over the last thirty years,exhibitions have become more and more important in representing contemporary culture almost become the major spreading means of contemporary art.The importance of exhibition is becoming more and more obvious.Compared with traditional history of art recording through text and image,exhibition has its unique way of constructing contemporary art history.First of all,the exhibition itself,as an essential part of contemporary art,it inevitably affects the construction of art history;Secondly,in narrative modes of art history,exhibition not only has modes of text and image but also has the advantage of visual and spatial narrative modes.Therefore,exhibition could influence art in a more specific and comprehensive way.Moreover,the exhibition,as an active way of presenting contemporary art,has become the main site where contemporary art history tokes place.The "knowledge"produced by exhibition directly becomes the resource for making history of contemporary art.In the study of history of art,the relationship between artistic production and division of artistic production has become an significant topic,and more importantly,exhibition is a fundament subject,and naturally become the research object of art historians and scholars.In this way,the exhibition has become the major way to build the contemporary art history.In this paper,the above three points are divided into three chapters,discussing the construction of contemporary art history by combining those important exhibitions in history with their influences and significance.Finally,the exhibition as mode of artistic narration is put forward as a whole concept,and points out that no matter in the past or in the future,exhibition is composing the art history in the ecological circle of art.
