This thesis is devoted to research vagueness in diplomatic language with Adaptation Theory.Analyzing the Fuzzy Sets Theory of Zedeh in 1965,it shows that language would be affected by mentality;on the other hand,mentality would be affected by objective things in the world.So if objective things are defined confused that means language must be confused;fuzzy is necessary expression in foreign affairs.In foreign affairs,precise language cannot match for all the situations,so more and more speakers choose fuzzy language in Regular Press Congress.The thesis is on the framework of Adaptation Theory,it is a corpus –based study on Regular Press Conference used in diplomacy as well.Based on Structural Adaptation to analyzing how to use pragmatic vagueness in three conditions of physical world,psychological world and social world.
