Interpretation Of The Film "Resident Evil" From The Perspective Of Ecofeminism

This thesis chooses the "Resident Evil" series of films as the research object,and uses the theory of ecological feminism as the analysis tool to examine the meaning and ideology of the films’ text and criticizes the film from this perspective.Ecological feminism is the combination of environmental protection movement and feminism,and it is also the extension and extension of ecological criticism in gender field.Ecological feminism holds that there is a close relationship between women and nature.Under the logic of the masculine rationality of the body(nature),women and nature are in the oppressed and dominated "other" state.This article mainly interpret this films’ text from the micro and macro aspects of the "Resident Evil" film.At the micro level,the commentary,the lens language were investigated.At the macroscopic level,the landscape narration and mythological construction of the film are analyzed.From the perspective of ecological feminism,through the analysis of the film text,from the "real body" to "symbolic body" layers of exploitation,thus revealing the disaster film-as "imagination of the signifier"-the complex shape and nature of ideology Attributes.The first chapter mainly introduces the creative background,the purpose and significance of the study,the relevant research methods,the current research status and the ecological feminism related concepts to explain the connotation.The main content of the second chapter is to analyze the female "other" status from the film narration and the lens.Then the Foucault’s power analysis theory and Laura Mulvey’s gaze theory are used to explore the patriarchal mechanism behind the marginalization of women.Through the narrative analysis from the nature fertility of women and nature to the dual nature of the tragic situation of women and nature,women and nature in the same oppression of the situation.The third chapter mainly analyzes how feminine and nature are the digestion and rebellion of this patriarchal mechanism.This chapter reveals from the natural retribution of mankind,the statistical analysis of female image,the female’s care for nature during the negation and resistance to oppression and domination,and the government and religious criticism as a ruling tool.And finally this chapter analyze the ecological feminism in the film in the specific presentation.The fourth chapter mainly deconstructs the "Resident Evil" film,exposes and criticizes the value orientation,contradictory narration and excessive consumptionism in the film from the perspective of ecological women,and points out the cultural hegemony behind the ecological concern.Natural effects and landscape-type illusion images suggest a conceptual form of the leader of capital social power,achieving the lies effect of ideological expression.Through the research,this film follows the Hollywood disaster film custom"science and technology(the United States)to save the human crisis" model,and meanwhile it take the disaster as entertainment consumption and spectacle consumption.Fundamentally the film is a well-developed consumer of goods that are carefully packed in safe consumption.Under the coat of ecological care and women’s equal demands,it is a logical paradox that cannot be justified behind the outcome of seemingly equal freedom and environmentalism to achieve the ultimate victory.And it shows the characteristics that the selfishness of the capitalist popular entertainment culture,which led to its own ability to thoroughly criticize the capital system.
