Shi Feng·Family Style·Book Style—Wang Xijue, Wang Heng, Wang Shimin, And Zu Sun’s Three Generations Of Calligraphy Research

In the late Ming Dynasty,economy system began to change and the economy in Jiangnan area increasingly developed.As a result,the literati gathered,forming a unique style.Taicang,as the cultural center of Jiangnan,was naturally a place with a plenty of talents.Among these prominent family who focused on the artistic appreciation of their family members,Wong Xijue family was named as the "Lou Menjia family".Wong’s family was famous for their prominent position,but few knew their skills and talents in calligraphy and their offspring’s high attainments in calligraphy.In addition,the studies of Wang Xijue family literature,political achievements and the calligraphy of Wong Xijue,Wong Heng and Wong Shimin are not intensive,nor summarized and analysed from the special period when the middle and late Ming Dynasty ideological collapsed.This study concentrates on the core figures of Wong’s family members,namely Wong Xijue,Wong Heng and Wong Shimin and considers blood as the internal link.From the unique life style of late Ming representatives and the restoration,as the core idea of the family,the calligraphy style is also analyzed.
