The Application Of Social Work In The Mental Health Intervention Of School-age Children In Welfare Homes

With the development of social welfare in our country,more and more attention has been paid to children in welfare homes.There are some problems in the children’s welfare home that pay attention to the life care and ignore the psychological health intervention,which not only hinders the development of the children’s welfare,but also is not conducive to the healthy growth of children,so pay attention to and meet the mental health problems of children in the orphanage is urgent.During the internship at V city children’s Welfare Institute of professional,social workers through participatory observation and in-depth interviews,in-depth understanding of the main psychological problems of School-age Children Welfare Institute,found that focus on support of the welfare of school-age children with mental health problems compared with that of normal children,has a certain particularity.The main psychological problems of school children in V children’s welfare center include: Children’s self-centered,inferiority complex,loneliness.And the causes of their psychological problems from the analysis of individual,family,peer groups,institutions and society according to the children’s life background.Then according to the needs of the social work intervention of the mental health of the school-age children,Comprehensive social welfare,social workers and children’s own resources,the social work intervention on the mental health of the school-age children in welfare institute.Group work intervention for school aged children welfare institute self-centered psychological development,case work intervention for individual children’s sense of inferiority,loneliness for children to carry out a series of psychological intervention,strengthen intervention effect,and follow-up service.We found that the method of social work has positive effect on the mental health intervention of the school-age children.But in the service of social work in the process of social work,due to their professional skills shortage,child welfare administrative strong color,lack of awareness of social work,and resource constraints,to hinder the social work service to some extent.Therefore,social workers should strive to improve their professional ability,to enhance the awareness of the social work agencies,the government should perfect the social policy for the protection of disabled children,to work together to promote social work service effectively.
