The Impact Of Social Class On Social Justice

Recently, research on social class is a hot spot in the field of Psychology. The impacts of a person’s social class on their mind and behavior is profound and extensive.With the development of economy and the huge change of society in China, the problem of social polarization and stratification between the rich and poor continue to be intensified. More and more people complained about the unfair of society, and this is not conducive to social harmony and stability. Understanding the social justice of different social class as well as the internal psychological mechanism has great practical significance. Based on this, our study mainly explore whether the individual objective social class and the subjective perceived social class can predict the sense of social justice, and whether the social class can through other psychological process to influence the social justice.Based on questionnaire method, study 1 collected survey date through the platform of "le diaocha". A total of 417 effective samples are collected. The results of hierarchical regression showed that the effect of individual’s objective social class level on sense of social justice is significant after controlling gender and age: higher objective social class are more intended to think the society is fair; the individual perceived subjective social class also has a significant effect on the sense of social justice after controlling gender,age and objective social class: higher subjective social class are more inclined to think the society is fair.Based on the conclusion of study 1 and related theoretical research, we put injustice sensitivity to examine its potential mediation role between subjective social class and social justice in study 2. A total of 255 postgraduates were recruited from two universities in Nanjing, and they are randomly divided into two groups. A group of subject were compared with high social class by initiation task to experience the lower social class,another group of subject compared with low social class to experience higher social class.Independent sample test found that the manipulation of the experiment is effective, and the social justice of high start-up social class was significantly higher than the low social class group’s social justice. The justice sensitivity of high social class is significantly lower than low social class, the social justice of high social class is significantly higher than the low social class. Subjective social class can through justice sensitivity indirectly affect the sense of social justice: the higher individual subjective social class level, the lower justice sensitivity, and the more they inclined to make fair judgment.
