On Self-consciousness In Self-portrait Photography

In this thesis, I will study a special category ,which is called Self-photography and the self-awareness of photographers behind. Self-photography is a kind of self-peeping or self-analysis ,whose subject is not the external image ,but some internal spiritual plane at the same time. The Photographer is both the peeper of the subject position and who is being peeped in the object position.In this paper, I will introduce the history, development and types of Self-photography firstly. Then I will focus on analyzing the relationship as well as presentation between the "self" being photographed in Self-photography and the"self" as the photographer, meanwhile perform the forming and digest process of self-awareness. At the same time, something is discussed, that whether I myself in the photo is the subject or the other, or a new subject which comes from constant interchange between subject and the other. Furthermore, through analyzing self-peeping and self-analysis of photographers, I state the uncertainty, no-defined and constant self-production in Self-photography. Finally I give an advice that photography should develop itself through reflecting on self-awareness in Self-photography.The phenomenon of self time and the formation of self-consciousness and the overall development of society, we can not ignore the existence of this cultural style.This is not only concerned about the quality of their art,is also a concern for the current social and human emotion and spiritual development, as an opportunity to explore a certain depth of social function and the extension of photography, and hope from a more macro perspective, art aesthetics and the value of the potential.
