Abstract/Summary:
Corruption exists against any background of the times, which does great harm to the benefits of both countries and people directly. In the 21st century, with the rapid development of economy and the relative reduction in resources, there is a trend that corruption is becoming unstoppable. Those early studies on corruption were mainly focused on areas such as economics, politics as well as sociology from the macro perspective. In recent years, researchers tend to study corruption applying experimental methods more often. Two patterns of paradigms are introduced then, and the most applied one is called Principal-Agent Theory.Experimental investigations on corruption may test the psychological mechanism of individual corruption from a micro level. In a general sense, power has a direct relationship with corruption.Of course, not all the power will lead to corruption. From the corruption cases disclosed previously,we can conclude an objective reason for corruption may be that those who are in great power has an absolute control over the resources. With the rise of social cognition, power is gradually regarded as one kind of "psychological variable".The priming of power at any time can lead to corresponding behavior tendency. All of these provide a framework to study whether power will lead to corruption, and in other words, priming of implicit power could be used to investigate corruption tendency.Study 1 ues 238 college students as subjects, single factor experimental design, through the high and low sense of empowerment starts subjects, and subjects were asked to complete the corruption perception scenario test, discussed the impact of a sense of the power of corruption perception, the results show:high sense of empowerment of the individual perception of corruption is lower than a low sense of power were tested, and the difference was significant(t=3.04,p=0.003<0.05).Second experiment with 204 college students as subjects, single factor experimental design, through the high and low sense of empowerment starts subjects, and subjects were asked to complete the corrupt tendencies scenario test,to further explore the effect of sense of empowerment of individual corruption tendencies, results display:high sense of power tends to corrupt individuals is lower than the corrupt tendencies of individual low sense of empowerment, and the difference was significant(t=2.41,p=0.017<0.05).Third experiment with 481 college students as subjects, the use of two-factor between-subjects experimental design was started by a sense of empowerment and adaptation of words started task corrupt tendencies scenario test,to further explore the possibility of whether the individual perceives his own power supervision Corruption the relationship between the variables, the results show a sense of authority and power supervision Have no interaction(F(1,477)=0.889,P=0.346>0.05).The findings are as follows:(1)In the perception of corruption tend to others, low power compared with high power shows more sensitive to others’ perception of corruption, and more intolerant of others.(2)In the corruption situation, low power compared with the high power are more likely to participate in corruption, and more tolerant of their own.(3)Power on the influence of the corruption tendency is not affected by the presence of power supervision.
