Shu Xiang, named Yangshe Xi, is also known as Yang Xi for enfeoffed in Yang.As a famous minister of Jin in the late Spring and Autumn Period, Shu Xiang is also one ofthe outstanding politicians, diplomats and thinkers along with Zi Chan and Yan Ying. During the Spring and Autumn Period in which the society changed dramatically, the wise men of pre-axial times, such as Shu Xiang , Zi Chan, Yan Ying and so on, actively participated in the national plolitics, paid attention to the fate of country and rushed about to mastermind schemes for their countries. At the same time,they also made a lot of profound cogitation and incisive comments on social ethics and realistic politics. However, little research has been done about Shu Xiang in academies, and the evaluation of his ideology is also comparatively single. This paper is intended to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth study of him, excavate the significance and value of his ideology, understand his ethical spirit and personality ideal, and understand the social history and ideological culture of this period.This paper study and analyze the family background, ideology, personality and literature of Shu Xiang with “ideology and literature research about Shu Xiang of Jin"as the title, Shu Xiang as the research object, and the Pre-qin and two Han Dynasties classics as the main material, such as Zuo Tradition and Discourses of the States,which is devided into four chapters.The first chapter study the family background and life stories of Shu Xiang according to Zuo Tradition and Discourses of the States so on, make textual research on the fief of "Yang She" by investigating chorographies, historical records and research achievements of archaeological literature in recent years, and reconstruct the family lineage of "Yang She" based on this research. In addition, we can have a comprehensive understanding of his life experience and political status by studying his family lineage vertically and investigating his political activities and social interactions horizontally, which provide prerequisites for the study of his ideology.The second chapter is the further study about the ideology of Shu Xiang, which is mainly focused on two areas. One is the reform of Shu Xiang to the "ceremony"under the historical conditions of that time. He constructed the basic spirit of"propriety" and "faithfulness" as a supplement; Another is the in-depth discussion and analysis of his opposition to the "Casting Penal Code" of Zi Chan,which is an important event in intellectual history. We excavated the practical significance and ideological value of his adherence to the rites via analyzing the relationship between"rite" and "punishment" and learn from the correlation research achievement of Pre-Qin legal history. Subsequently, we rethought and discussed the assertions of conservatism of Shu Xiang' ideology.The third chapter is to show Shu Xiang' s honest and frank character traits and analyze his moral spirit of patriotism and ideal of gentleman personality. The patriotism spirit of Shu Xiang embodied not only in his deep emotion of clan, but also in exhausting his all ability to safeguard national interests and dignity. The exposition of "gentleman" embodied his conscious pursuit of gentleman personality. The forth chapter develop literature research about Shu Xiang from his literariness of language and image in Zuo Tradition and other allusions.
