Through a comparative study of poems about the eight views of Xiaoxiang between China and Korea, a systematic exposition of the works of the two countries was made.The first chapter is the introduction of the object of the current study, research purpose, the previous study and research methods. Since its emergence in the Northern Song Dynasty, the eight views of Xiaoxiang has long been the interests of countless literati showing a vigorous vitality. As the birthplace of eight views of Xiaoxiang, China has played great role in Xiaoxiang eight poems. And as the recipient of the Xiaoxiang culture, Korea absorbed the essence and shaped it into their own culture, which shows the high appreciation of Korean literati for this cultural phenomenon.The second chapter mainly explores the origin and development of Eight Views of Xianxiang in China and Korea and summarizes the Chinese poetry works in different periods of the two countries. According to "Meng Xi Bi Tan" by Shen Kuo.eight views of Xiaoxiang originated from the eight painting of plains landscape by Song Di in Northern Song Dynasty, since then many literati have a great interest in this style and created a lot of works. It is not known the exact time when Xiaoxiang culture spread to South Korea. According to the "history of Korea", it has reached South Korea in Korea Mingzong period.As the core part of the paper, the third, fourth and fifth chapters compared and analyzed the creation background, the class, the expression method and their content of Chinese and Korean poems. In the comparison of background in the third chapter,the similarity is that both poets in two countries re-created poems with reference to the poems and paintings of their predecessors. The difference is that some Chinese literati have personally been to Xiaoxiang scenic and created some works after the appreciation of the scenic. However there is no recording that Korean literati have been to the scenic. Therefore, the Korean Xiaoxiang eight poems are created in the light of previous work. The Chinese and Korean poets are mainly scholars, covering the royal family members and Buddhist monks.The fourth chapter is the comparative study of the performance techniques used in the poems from the aspects of language, allusions and rhetorical devices. They both used the simple words. Chinese poems used a number of words that is closely related to language in daily life, while Korean poems used a lot of numbers and reduplicated words to make poetry metrical and antithesis. Xiaoxiang Xiangfei legend, seclusion Xiaoxiang, and exile areas loaded with a lot of stories often appear in poetry. As for rhetorical methods, the poems are analyzed in terms of the battle method, inverted method and comparison method.The fifth chapter is the comparison of the contents of the poems in term of the scenery and lyrical parts. Eight views of Xiaoxiang originated from the landscape painting by Song Di, so both Chinese and Korean poet focused on the description of scene in the creation of poetry. As for the lyric part, the poetry mainly involved the love of nature, appreciation of Xiaoxiang area and the drifting depression. Poets in two countries all used the poems to express their feeling and showed the affection for nature, leisure attitude or their seclusion.The previous research results showed that most of the scholars studied the Xiaoxiang culture from the microcosmic level, and made great achievements in the study of the works of a certain period or poet. However, there are fewer studies from the macroscopic level. Under the background, the thesis applied the comparative method to study the Chinese and Korean poems and then analyzed the similarities and differences between the two works. The formation process of the two cultures was also analyzed. It is of great importance to understand the formation and development of the common literary phenomenon in China and Korea. At the same time, it summarizes the reasons why the ancient scholars of South Korea are so fond of Xiaoxiang and the significance of Xiaoxiang poems.
