China has a long history and tradition of many unique art styles and culture. One in particular is the Chinese Opera. As a unique variety of chinese painting, opera figure painting takes the Chinese opera Characters as its own painting material. To my understanding,at about the end of the 1920 s,Guan Liang,a Chinese painter, combined the spirit of Chinese traditional ink painting and the Concepts of western modern art.Due to Lin Feng Mian’s later creations, the creation of traditional Chinese painting has become an important part of his,and all artistic achievements. This paper first understands Lin Feng Mian and Guan Liang’s opera painting background, and then from there choose some of their more interesting works for a one by one analysis. What was to be discovered was that Lin Feng Mian and Guan Liang’s achievements, comes from their profound and rich cultural background. They were also able too approach art with open eyes with both Chinese and Western cultures in mind, not only keeping their national aesthetics. They were able absorb the idea of western art and integrate it into their style, reflecting their full personal style. Thus, creating a new model for learning. Finally,My opera painting creation, inspired by both Lin Feng Mian and Guan Liang, let me know that we should not be confined to a certain category of art. That we should explore our own personal styles. But by society and with the new mass of media,we need to find new positions of creation for our future works.
