Johannes Brahms(1833-1897),one of the greatest German composers and pianists of the Romantic period in 19th century.He appreciates the music in the Baroque and the classical period,we can often see Bach and Beethoven in his works,which combine the essence of romanticism and the characteristics of classicism.Brahms created his own style of music,which is highly noble,profound and serious.Sonata is indispensable in Brahms’s works,and "The 3rd piano sonata in f minus" created in 1853 is the best of his only three sonatas,which consists of five movements,the piano technology is difficult and complex,and with profound meaning.Its complicated and changing rhythm with rich tones is the portrayal of Brahms’ contradictory mood,and it can also be seen as Brahms’s self-portrait with high artistic value.This sonata was played by Brahms himself in Vienna in 1863 for the first time.In order to study and perform the sonata better,the thesis begins with the study of the composer’s life and the background of the composition,then analyzes the "The 3rd piano sonata in f minus" the fifth movement from the musical from structure.Based on my own experience,I want to help the player to learn the chord,interval,melody singing and pedal,and also provide a theoretical and practical basis for future research.
