Pan Tianshou is a modern famous painter and art educator in China.He is very strict in the art processing,regardless of the big layout,or a small chapter,always reflect the tightness of thinking.Rock element is one of theme that Pan Tianshou likes to perform.The formation of his rock features is inseparable with his history environment,personal character and the study of "prefer to love ancients rather than modern people".The rocks in his works and the rocks in the traditional flower and bird painting are different.In the article,it discusses the particularity of its rocks from the ink,shape and position aspects.The ink is sophisticated and jerky,the language is generalized and refined.The shape shows characteristics of "big","square","simple";from the location,Pan Tianshou has two representative treatment,one is huge"Pan Gongshi" often occupies the nine-tenths of the scene,the other is surrounded by four sides,which is created by combining with landscape and flowers and birds,such as the structure in the " small longqiu down a corner".His rock occupies a large area in the screen,is often in the main position.It plays an important role in creating potential,widening the contrast of rhythm,emphasizing the screen order in the picture.In this paper,by the analysis of pictures,analyzing the role of Pan Tianshou 's rocks in the picture from the perspective of creation,and by the analysis,settling Pan Tianshou's thoughts in his creation.All these have practical significance for my creation.At the same time by the comparative analysis,comparing with the Bada Shanren and Wu Changshuo can make us be more intuitive to find uniqueness of Pan Tianshou' s rocks.His clever use of rocks makes his picture greatly different from the predecessors.It is an important factor that forms his picture outlook.
