Exploring The Aesthetic And Performance Practice Of Chu Dance

As a local representative dance,Chu dance originated against the background of Chu culture in Jingchu land of Hubei and it is a great treasure in the traditional Chinese dance culture.On the basis of the Central Plains culture,Chu dance mixed with multi-cultural factors in its development history such as Chinese ritual historiographer culture and southern barbarian traditions,which affected the basic aesthetics of the ancient Chinese woman dancing posture,created its unique cultural connotation and aesthetic details and also deeply influences Chinese ancient dance of its contemporary development and of its aesthetic style.This article analyzes Chu dance from the angles of the historical evolution of the dance in Chu land and its aesthetic characteristics as well as the exploration of the aesthetic culture in dance creation.Firstly it tries to find the spirit and aesthetic style of Chu dance from local philosophy,literature works and illustrations in those classical documents.Secondly it elaborates the choreography of the dance Chu Phoenix in which phoenix is the theme and graphs and descriptions in literature are taken as reference,based on an analysis of the adoration of Chu people for dance and Phoenix.Thinking of Chu culture and re-creation of Chu dance how to rich Chinese classical dance performance system.In conclusion,by studying the theory and practice of Chu dance,this article enquires the inheritance and development of Chu dance in order to excavate the precious dance culture in Jingchu land more deeply and expansively.
