| The aesthetic concept that “one’s appearance is formed through his/her mind” is embedded in many art forms.Chinese classical dance, originating from traditional Chinese culture, shares the same aesthetic appreciation as those art forms.Chinese classical dance lays emphasis on the unity of form and spirit the form of dance is conveyed through body movements, while the spirit is expressed by aesthetics and cultural cognition that existed in dancer’s inner world.By studying and analysing the performance in Flying Apsaras, this paper found that apart from imitating flying Apsaras in Dunhuang frescoes,it is essential to recognise how culture affects minds and aesthetic appreciation.Only when inner mind, spirit, strength and traditional cultural deposits are penetrated into outer body expressions, can the two-dimensional fresco forms be vividly presented on the stage and realize the transformation from formative arts to dancing arts. |
