Literature Weekly was the official journal of the Literature Research Association.The journal served not only as a fitghting zone for the members to practice as what they said in the dependence publications,but also provided a chance to enhance the future of the studies of folk literature.This dissertation intends to make a comprehensive analysis of the contributions of Literature Weekly in the field of folk literature from six aspects,which naturally divides the whole thesis into six chapters.The first chapter is the introductory part,mainly talks about the reason why folk l iterature researches began to flourish in the early of 20 th century,and why the intellec tual organizations engaged in research works of folk literature.The second chapter focuses on the changes of Literature Weekly.The journal's name changed for three times.With the changing,the journal' content also changed.This chapter intends to explore how the folk literature researches boom in the field of literature.The third chapter talks about how Literature Weekly collected folk literature,especially the collection of ballads,folktales and so on.The fourth chapter summarizes the achievements of the Literary Weekly in the study of folk literature.The research of folklore theory in Literary Weekly is prominent,especially in the study of mythology and story logy.Mao Dun and Zhao Jingshen contributed a lot of valuable theoretical articles.The last chapter is the conclusion which summaries the the value and limitation o f the study of folk literature in early 1920 s,and it could gives us some enlightenment f or the present.
