Investigation And Research Of Selefier In Xiji County, Ningxia

To the Chinese muslims, Islam is not only their religious belief, but also the life style which they choose for themselves. Xiji, Haiyuan and Guyuan in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region are one of areas where Hui nationality concentrates and Islam is rooted in and constitutes distinct regional culture. As a young sect of Islam, China's al-Salafiyyah has numerous Islamists in Xiji county. However, the study of al-Salafiyyah, especially that in the rural area is paid less attention. The paper is focused on al-Salafiyyah in the light of dynamic developing to reexamine and position it from the perspective of maintaining national unity and pursuing religious harmony.This paper is composed of three parts:introduction, text and conclusion. The introduction is mainly focused on introducing the research significance, present research situation, methods and innovative points. The text is divided into three parts:the first part is the history and current situation of Islam in Xiji county which include the natural and cultural environment, historical evolution, localization of Islam and Islamic sect in Xiji, as well as the Jamaat structure. The second part is dissemination and development of al-Salafiyyah in Xiji county which mainly discussed the background, development phase, present situation including mosque and belief, imam and khalifah, means of livehood, religious piety and secular pleasure, and migration as well. Besides, it has also discussed the relationships between al-Salafiyyah and Wahhabi, al-Salafiyyah and Ikhwani. The third part summarizes that al-Salafiyyah in Xiji faces the challenges which are re-understanding and re-positioning of al-Salafiyyah as well as its imam, marital choice of the young people, sticking to Islamic tasks for migrants. The last part of the paper is conclusion.During the transformation period, Islam's transition for Hui nationality in the rural area of Xiji has taken on a fact that the differentiation and accommodation all do coexist. Under the premise of remaining the religious spiritual aspect unchanged, the changing times is showed on the religious practical level. The paper suggests that as the prototype of Islam in China, the development in al-Salafiyyah initiates that the transform of social convention should be innovated necessarily. At present, the Islamic cultural change is not only the great challenge for Islamic development in rural area, but also the consequence which it consciously adapts to the epoch development.
