Differences Between WDC And WDSF Competition Scoring Rules

Dancesport has experienced such development stages of primitive dance?folk dance, court-ball dance, social dance and ballroom dance since it appears. Due to its art and sport value, dance sport has become one of the most popular indoor sport event nowadays and dancesport competitions are catching on around the world. In general, dance sport competition is organized and held by the international or local organizations which are authorized by it according to the competition rules. Around the world every event has one of the most influential and authoritative organization, this organization plays an important role in their competitions, events development and task implement. Differently from other events, there are two authoritative international dance sport organizations, they are the World Dance Council(WDC for short) and the World DanceSport Federation(WDSF for short). Because dance sport is a mixture of art and sport with double value orientation, there exists two authority international dancesport organizations with different position and development philosophy. They are making a lot of effort for the rapid development of the sports dance,but at the same time there are contradictions and differences between WDC and WDSF. They have many differences on the aspects of judging rules?dance style and so on. the differences will directly affect the future and t direction of dance sport.This research will illustrate the differences in judging system between WDC and WDSF, aiming at providing theoretical reference to set up unified judging rules for the future development of global dance sportA number of internal and external pieces of literatures and materials were collected such as academic essays and books, and relevant videos. Comparative analysis method is widely used to find the differences between WDC and WDSF judging rules. A total of ten dance sport judges were recruited for in-depth interviews so as to know which judging rules more adapt to the times and which met the requirements for the future dance sport development. Questionnaires were given to relevant figures and then collected for analysis. Conclusions are as follows:(1) On the influence of sport and art value concept, there exists two major international dance sport organizations WDC and WDSF and there are many differences in their organizational concept, competition judging rules and so on.(2) All those superficial differences are originated from the following factors: the historical factors of WDSF and WDC; dance sport characteristic factors; formative factor of judging rules; functional factors of judging rules; trend factor of judging rules and so on.(3) The differences of judging rules between WDC and WDSF are focusing on the following aspects: the requirements of judges; in the judging criteria, WDC undefined criteria, WDSF exact classification; on the rating scale, WDC play 1 ~ X name in the case of relatively, and the judging criteria of WDSF content quantization into concrete score registration, one by one score for each criteria; in assessing the performance and determine the ranking, WDC uses test removal method and skating system. WDSF uses scoring method in finals and semi-finals to determine the ranking; in the event form and start order, WDC has insisted ahead of schedule according to the organizers and WDSF uses the method of random sampling.(4) The differences of judging rules between WDC and WDSF have a significant impact on dance styles?training system and so on, directly affect Chinese judging rules setting.
