Emotional leadership(EL) has its main form as emotional control and emotional contagion. As a new leadership style, the related empirical researches are still in the starting stage both domestic and abroad. This study explores the emotional leadership structure and discusses its influence on innovative performance based on the Chinese traditional culture.Due to examines the relationship between EL and innovative performance, but also explores the mediating role of thriving at work and followership prototype between EL and innovative performance. Overall, the research extends our understanding of the leader-employee relationship and specifies the mechanism of EL’s influence on innovative performance in theory and practice, providing a guidance for leaders and managers to manage employees’ emotion, leading group members to achieve common goals.This study focused on the following issues: first, the struction of emotional leadership content; Second, the formation of emotional leadership table; Third, the differences of emotional leadership in histological demographic variables; fourth,the emotional leadership for the innovative performance of a direct force on the mechanisms leading to thriving at work and the followership prototype into the indirect effects mediated mechanisms. Select the employees, integrated use of multivariate statistical methods and structural equation model to explore the mechanism of action of the emotional leadership, the final result is as follows :(1) Based on literature review, open questionnaire and interview, using factor analysis, to receive EL is a three-factor model, which includes generating employees’ appropriate emotion, empathizing with employees and helping employees handling emotion. It is proved that the reliability and validity of the EL Scale is satisfying by test.(2) The significant differences of emotional leadership in gender, age and educational background.(3) Generating employees’ appropriate emotion, empathizing with employees and helping employees handling emotion have a significant positive effect on innovative performance. Generating employees’ appropriate emotion, empathizing with employees have a significant positive effect on thriving at work and followership prototype.(4) Tructural equation model shows that: thriving at work and followership prototype mediate the relationship between EL and innovative performance, namely that EL has an influence on innovative performance through the multiple mediator effects of thriving at work and followership prototype.
