A Contrast Between Quine And Wittgenstein's Language Logic

The task of philosophy of language is to interpret the relationship between human and human’s world by means of linguistic analysis. Quine and Wittgenstein,two great philosophers and linguists in the 20 th century,have played a significant role in their own fields. Their logic of language is analyzed and expounded in the thesis. On the one hand,the thesis approaches meaning and referent and view of language of naturalism and behaviorism theory of meaning from a viewpoint of Quine. On the other hand,the thesis make a summary of the relation between language and world and picture theory in early Wittgenstein’s view of language.In the dimension of philosophy of language,this thesis aims to seek its interaction by exploring main content in philosophy of language of Quine and Wittgenstein. On the basis of its interaction,meanwhile,the thesis reveals the relations between human and human’s world by comparing,analyzing and interpreting the view of language of them.And this thesis finally draws a conclusion that it is a tendency and necessity to research into philosophy of language of Quine and Wittgenstein in the dimension of human and human’s world.
