Localization Of Grandparents' Investment Based On Evolutionary Psychology

The development of modern medical technology makes life expectancy continues to grow, grandparents life extended the grandparents and grandchildren living significant overlap, which is grandparents invest in their grandchildren provides more opportunities.The relationship between grandparents and grandchildren became a part of the main family relationships,grandparents in the way of grandchildren growth has played a significant role.Grandparental investment as a research field in evolutionary psychology has accumulated quite a lot of empirical research data, but the results of these studies are mixed, and even contradictory.In addition, the study grandparents investment mainly in the background of Western culture, the cultural background of localization research is relatively scarce. This empirical study is not conducive to cross-cultural comparison, and only established under the Western cultural context is one-sided theoretical system failure, so a grandparent investment localization is necessary.In this paper, based on the perspective of evolutionary psychology, with the background of local culture, the first year of college students to be tested by the method of questionnaire survey to the grandparents investment. Grandparents’ investment is influenced by both cultural and evolutionary effects and is shown to be different from the Western cultural background. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The five grandparents investment indicators are influenced by the different levels of evolution and culture, showing different patterns.( 2) Traditional preference for boys leads to five grandparents investment indicators show that grandparents of male grandchildren investment is higher than that of the female grandchildren investment.(3)By the patriarchal cultural bias, emotional investment, raising investment, time investment, in the country showed paternal grandparents on their grandchildren’s investment is higher than that of maternal grandparents on their grandchildren of investment. But in the town there is no such differences.( 4) The effect of sexually antagonistic(SA) zygotic drive has not been demonstrated that there is no damage of paternal grandmother to grandson.(5)Grandparents invest more in the grandchildren whose parents are firstborn than that whose parents are not firstborn.(6)There is no significant difference between the grandparental investment in the only child and the non-only child.
