The Game Of Perception

In this thesis,the author is trying to manifest the confusion of human thinking patterns under the industrial aesthetical standard,as well as the linguistic logic behind modern life.The author extracts the format and content of flush toilet and he chooses crude pottery,a type of ancient and plain raw material,as media to demonstrate this sculpture.Flush toilet is a typical mass produced commodity under the mordern industrial production systems.When the author reunites this modern industrial label to the ancient looking crude pottery material,the paradox of format/content and media material is clearly revealed.The visual conflicts is gradually demonstrated.The author is trying to arouse the rethinking of the audience,that when we are used to accept the empiricism created by the industrial aesthetical standards,the natural ability of active thinking is fading.For people nowadays,the separation of traditions and the pursuit of future life caused the anxiety which is not easy to release.But this kind of anxiety is well covered by the civilized life which looks reasonable,nice and full of comfort.Through this sculpture,the author intents to manifest his confusion towards the industrial environment and civilization,as an indenpendent human being.
