Raymond Carver, distinguished outstanding contemporary American novelist, is also a poet as his literary identity. On one hand, novel composition provides him with different visions of life elements, such as vivid scenes, emotions, conversations and circumstances, etc. which are considered matching the development trend of contemporary poetry, become his unique advantage in poem composition. On the other hand, the poems also contribute to the quality and style of novel in terms of the concentration, refining and the expression of language. Therefore, two literary genres integrate and interact perfectly.As a poet, Raymond Carver showed literary and aesthetic value as well: Per his dual literary identities, we get a full picture of the artistic value of his poetry dimension; per interpretation of his poems, we could precisely and integrally position his identity and achievement in poetry.What's more, we conduct a study of Carver as a representative individual case among those writers who created across the two kinds of genres. This article is based on the incredible effects made by the interaction to writers. It is the creating trend behind this literary phenomenon that provides us with endless inspiration.
