The self-enhancement is a kind of individual self-motivation, which can be a driving force to self-affirmation and shaping positive self, desiring to seek positive self-evaluating. Such a motive would restrain children'social adjustment, personal adjustment, social interaction, peer interaction, mental health. The appropriate self-improvement motivation can promote the formation and development of individual mental health and good personality. From the moment of birth, children are faced with the adaptation of his mind and body to adapt to the world, good ability to adapt to the development of children plays an important role.In this paper, the survey chose160children from4to6years old from three public kindergartens in Beijing. To investigate their the status of self-enhance and adaptability, and to explore the relationship between the two respects. This study reached the following conclusions:1. Self-enhancement performance study showed that the majority of children4to6years old had self-enhancement motivation.2. The performance of children interpersonal study found, in children interpersonal peer group, the number of children in ordinary group was the largest, the number of controversial group was the smallest, other three groups are similar,the popularity of girls was better than boys. Children in different interpersonal peers did not have significant self-enhancement level.3. Their was no significant age and gender differences in children' over-claiming, cognitive accuracy had age difference.4. The trait self-enhancement study showed that, the majority of children had self-enhancement motivation, a small number of children showed self-belittle motivation.5. The attitude of the children to school showed the significant gender difference, girls liked their school much more than boys; and this attitude did not show the grade differences. Children' preferences attitude to school was significantly higher than evasive attitude.6. School loneliness, their was no significant grade and gender differences about lonely feelings of the children.7. Children'self-enhancement and personal adjustment had close relationship. Overall, children'self-enhancement could positively predict social preferences and school attitude, and the negatively predict of school avoidance and loneliness.
