Objective:To compare the efficacy of Wu Qin Xi(five-animal exercise)combined oral western medicine and Wu Qin Xi alone in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome, and study the characteristics and advantages of five-animal exercise in the treatment of fibromyalgia syndrome. Methods:A total of 44 patients with fibromyalgia were included in this study.37 patients completed the trial(loss rate<20%),including 7 males and 30 females. The age range was 30-72 years old.The study selected the new version of "Health Qigong · Wu Qin Xi" promulgated by the State General Administration of Sports in 2003.Before the official start of treatment, the professional teacher was invited to perform a three-day teaching and instruction of Wu Qin Xi for the Wu Qin Xi group,Wu Qin Xi and oral western medicine group. One week after the end of teaching, the trial was officially began. The treatment duration was 12 weeks in both groups. The Wu Qin Xi group had exercised once a day for 30-40 minutes each time. The heart rate was controlled at about 120%of the maximum heart rate. The body had slight sweating and no apparent fatigue was observed. The treatment of patients in Wu Qin Xi combined with oral western medicine was combined with Wu Qin Xi exercise and oral western medicine. The methods and requirements of Wu Qin Xi were the same as those of Wu Qin Xi group, and oral administration of Amitriptyline(tricyclic antidepressants)was given. The initial dose was 10-25mg per serving,2-3 times a day.According to patient drug tolerance, the dose was increased 25mg daily, until to 150mg.Drugs were taken every night before going to bed,for 12 weeks.During the trial, behavioral cognitive therapy was performed in both groups. The trial was scored by using the visual analogue scale(VAS),the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire(FIQR)and the Hamilton depression scale(HAMD).At the same time, the number of positive tender points in 18 sites of fibromyalgia was calculated, and the tenderness thresholds in 18 sites were measured. The changes of main symptoms and signs of fibromyalgia patients before and after treatment were observed and evaluated. The efficacy was analyzed, and the tenderness threshold of each site was calculated. Both groups were measured before treatment,6 weeks after treatment, and 12 weeks after treatment.SPSS 22.0 statistical analysis software was used for statistical analysis of all the scale scores and the measurement of the tenderness threshold in this study.According to the normal distribution of data, paired sample t-test or non-parametric test was used to analyze the data differences before and after treatment in the group. The results of the repeated measures variance analysis were used to compare the two groups, followed by an independent sample t-test or non-parametric test.Variables were summarized using descriptive statistics and expressed as "mean ± standard deviation"(x ± s).Results:In the aspects of VAS,FIQR,HAMD,number of tender points, and tenderness threshold,Wu Qin Xi combined oral western medicine group and Wu Qin Xi group were significantly improved before and after treatment. There was no statistical difference in VAS score,FIQR score,HAMD score, and number of tender points between the two groups after 12 weeks of treatment. However, after 6 weeks of treatment, the VAS score and HAMD score were statistically different. The combined oral western medicine group was significantly better than the Wu Qin Xi group. On the analysis of the tenderness threshold, both treatment methods can increase the threshold of tenderness and improve the pain tolerance of patients with fibromyalgia. Conclusion:Health Qigong · Wu Qin Xi can effectively treat fibromyalgia syndrome, which has positive significance in improving pain symptoms, pain tolerance, depressive symptoms, and life effects. It can improve the quality of life of patients and can be used as a non-drug therapy for treating this disease.
