Objective:Collect the symptom information of patients with the disease of comorbid epilepsy and depression, and analyse the symptom information with the aid.of statistical methods to seek the distribution characteristics of the symptoms, and explore their inner relationship with the analysis method of the association rule to sum up the TCM syndrome type of comorbid epilepsy and depression preliminaryly. Methods:A Cross-sectional study method was used in the subject.During the period from December 2015 to December 2017,to collect the data of patients of comorbid epilepsy and depression in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine,Dongfang Hospital Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and the First Affiliated Hospital of General Hospital of Chinese People's Liberation Army.Patients with the disease of comorbid epilepsy and depression who met the inclusion criteria were inrolled.the study, and their TCM symptom information and other related information were inquiried and recorded.Based on that,SPSS Statistics 20.0 and SPSS Modeler 18.0 software were used to analyse those information, and then under the guidance of TCM theory,to seek the characteristics of TCM symptoms of comorbid epilepsy and depression.Result:(1)130 patients with the disease of comorbid epilepsy and depression who met the inclusion criteria were inrolled. There were 77 males and 53 females in the patients, male to female ratio was 1.45:1.During them, the minimum age was 12 years old,the maximum age was 69 years old,and the 18-40 was the high incidence age of the disease, including 91patients,accounting for 70.00%of total patients.(2)During the 130 patients, with intractable epilepsy was 72 and with non-intractable epilepsy was 58,their ratio was 1.24:1.In the seizure type, with comprehensive seizure was 51 including 46 w:ith comprehensive tonic-clonic seizure and 5 with other comprehensive seizure, accounting for 39.23%of total patients;with partial seizure was 60,including 25 with complex partial seizure,2 with simple partial seizure and 33 with partial secondary comprehensive seizure, accounting for 46.15%of total patients;both with comprehesive and partial seizure was 19,accounting for 14.62%of total patients.(3)Patients in the study were mainly with mild or moderate depression, the number was 122,accounting for 93.85%of total patients;with severe depression was 8,accounting for 6.15%of total patients.(4)During all the inrolled symptoms, according to the frequency of occurrence, ranked in the top 20 were depression(98.5%),loss of interest(93.1%),worry(93.1%),irritability(90.0%),sadness and hopelessness(83.8%),spiritlessness(81.5%),tiredness(80.0%),difficuty falling asleep(77.7%),heavy-head(74.6%),forgetfulness(73.8%),loss of appetite(70.0%),panic(68.5%),selfblame(66.9%),lethargy(65.4%),early awaking(64.6%),dullness(63.8%),dry-mouth(60.8%),silence(58.5%),dreams(54.6%),dizziness(53.8%)(5)TCM symptoms of the 130 patients show correlation with patients'gender, age, duration of epilepsy, intractable epilepsy, numbers of AEDs.In terms of gender distribution, females are with more panic and ribs/breast pain;In different age groups, patients of 12-17 years old are with the most self-blame and silence, and the two show the decreasing rate of occurrence with age.patients of 18-40 years old are with the most worry and sadness and hopelessness, patients of 41-69 years old are with the most dry-eyes,dullness,dizziness,heart-panicand,sticky-stool,and the five show the increasing rate of occurrence with age.On the distribution of epilepsy, tiredness, panic, earrly awaking, sigh and heavy-body shows an increasing rate of incidence as the course of epilepsy increases.Compared to non-intractable epilepsy, patients of intractable epilepsy are with more lethargy.Compared to taking no or single one AEDs,patients taking two or more AEDs are with a more worse appetite.(6)The main 5 TCM syndrome types of comorbid epilepsy and depression and their key symptoms are as follows:the liver stagnation transforming to fire syndrom type:the main symptoms:depression, worry, irritability, difficulty falling asleep, night sweats, day sweats,bitter-mouth;the secondary symptoms:ribs/breast pain, fear of heat,dry-mouth,dry-eyes,tinnitus,dry-stool,headace.The kidney deficiency and liver stagnation syndrome type:the main symptoms:depression, loss of interest, sadness and hopelessness,forgetfulness,loose-stool,faint waist and knee;the secondary symptoms:dullness, silence, lethargy, fear of cold, night piss. The liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome type:the main symptoms:depression, worry, tiredness, tight chest and stomach,ribs/breast pain,loose-stool;the secondary symptoms:bad appetite,sticky-stool,sticky-mouth,heavybody.The bie stagnation sputum syndrome type:the main symptoms:depression, worry, irritability, difficulty falling asleep,panic,bitter-mouth,sticky-mouth;the secondary symptoms:dreams, slight sleep, early awaking,heavy-head.The heart and spleen deficiency syndrome type:the main symptoms:spiritlessness,tiredness,forgetfulness,loose-sto-ol,sticky-stool,sticky-mouth,bad appetite;the secondary symptoms:heavy-body,lethargy,dizz-iness,heart-panic,dullness,early awaking.Conclusion:(1)The key symptoms of the disease of comorbid epilepsy and depression are:depression, loss of interes, worry, irritability, sadness and hopelessness, spiritlessness, tiredness, difficulty falling asleep.(2)The symptoms of the disease of comorbid epilepsy and depression are related to patients'gender, age, state of epilepsy.(3)The main 5 TCM syndrome types of comorbid epilepsy and depression are:the liver stagnation transforming to fire syndrom type, the kidney deficiency and liver stagnation syndrome type, the liver stagnation and spleen deficiency syndrome type, the bile stagnation sputum syndrome type, the heart and spleen deficiency syndrome type. The factors of the disease are closely related to the liver, spleen, heart, kiney,Bile;and the elements are Qi stagnation,Qi deficiency, marrow deficiency, blood deficiency, sputum, fire.
