Objective: To observe the m RNA and protein expression of metastasis associated protein 2(MTA2) in tongue cancer and explore its clinical significance.Method Protein expression of MTA2 in 95 cases tongue cancer and 25 cases normal tongue mucosa epithelial tissue with a distance of 0.5- 1 cm from the cancer tissue was tested by immunohistochemical method. The m RNA and protein expressions in 20 cases tongue cancer tissues and carcinoma adjacent tissue with a distance of 5 mm from the cancer tissue were measured by RT-PCR, Real-Time PCR and Western Blot. The relationship between expression of MTA2 and the gender, age and the degree of differentiation of cancer tissues was analysed.Result(1) The m RNA and protein expression of MTA2 in in tongue cancer tissue was significantly increased compared with cancer adjacent tissues(P<0.05).(2) There was no significant relationship between expression of MTA2 and the gender and age(P>0.05). Expression of MTA2 was negatively related to the degree of differentiation of carcinoma tissue(P<0.05).Conclusion MTA2 expression in tongue cancer tissue is higher than it in cancer adjacent tissues. MTA2 expression is negatively related to the degree of differentiation of carcinoma tissue.
