In this paper a hybrid simulation test method was developed for the dynamic response of structures with velocity related nonlinear damper.The dynamic response of the linear part in the structure was simulated by the numerical computation while the response of nonlinear damper was tested on test machine.The parameters from numerical simulation and machine test on every sub-step were transmitted between test machine controller and the simulation software by computer communication technology.This simulation method can be effectively applied to the dynamic analysis of large and complicated structure with strongly nonlinear unit.The contents and conclusions are as follows:(1)The data communication interface software between PCS8000 controller and numerical software were developed by C++.With this software the reaction force of the nonlinear unit from test machine can be transmitted to the numerical software for iterative calculation in real time and the displacement and velocity of the damper calculated by the numerical software can be fed back to the controller to actuate the actuator with the displacement and velocity controlling for every sub-step.(2)A software based on the integral algorithm to calculate the structure dynamic response under the dynamic loading were developed with the MATLAB;the hybrid simulation test system with the displacement and velocity controlling were established with the test machine LFV-10,the developed calculation software and the data communication software.(3)A kind of a rubber visco-elastic damper and a MR damper are studied and the mechanical properties were obtained and it is verified that the damping forces are related with the velocity.(3)A four-layer frame structure with a visco-elastic damper under earthquake were simulated both with the hybrid simulation test and the pure numerical simulation and the simulation results were compared to verify the the stability and effectiveness of hybrid simulation methods.(4)A four-layer frame structure with a magneto rheological(MR)damper under earthquake were simulated with hybrid simulation method.The energy absorption effectiveness of the the whole structure was studied with MR damper in different fixed position.
