The cassette structure of assembled overall spatial steel grid, which was presented by the Kejian Ma, member of the prestigious Chinese Academy of Engineering,is a new kind of structure form. The benefits of which stem from its spatial forcing system, which gives it idea economic efficiency in building material consumption. It is also suitable for long-span structure. Under the three principles of circular economy of our country, the cassette structure is a big leap on the way of independent innovation of science and technology. Nowadays, the cassette structure has been applied in many cases, which shows its good development prospect. So it needs more in-depth theoretical analysis for practical engineering.This paper focuses on the theoretical analysis of the cassette structure applied to single span of multistory industrial buildings. Comparing it with traditional steel frame structure, the paper discusses the clause of the code for seismic design of buildings with a planned 4 layers of single span industrial plant. Through it, the paper demonstrates the feasibility and rationality of the cassette structure applied to the single span of multistory industrial buildings,and provides reference for the application of engineering in the future. Firstly, the paper recommends the basic mechanics equations, geometric constructions and textural characteristics of the cassette structure. Secondly, the paper demonstrates that the design of cassette structure can have more economic benefits compared with linear comprehensive performance of the steel-frame structure, while meeting the current code for design at the same time. Thirdly, the static and dynamic elastic-plastic analysis based on the rare earthquake is used to compared the performances between the two structures. Finally, the paper comes to a conclusion that the cassette structure with the single span and multi-layer has better lateral stiffness and structural ductility than the traditional steel-frame structure.Considering the structural redundancy, the analysis of progressive collapse between the two structures is used to demonstrate that the cassette structure performs better in structural redundancy and crossing ability.Totally speaking, the cassette structure is a new kind of structure form with better economic benefits and more reliability in stress. And that is the reason why it is worth popularizing and advancing its practical engineering prospect.
