The vehicle retention in China increases 3 times in the last decade, cars make life convenient meanwhile they also consume a lot of oil resources and cause a certain detrimental impact on the natural environment. China produced 448 million tons of coke in 2015, along with the emission of nearly 200 billion cubic meters of coke oven gas, one half of them can be recycled as fuel use and the other half are wasted. Project involved in the early stage of the enterprise study, indicated that Coke Oven Gas which is purified can basically meet the requirement of vehicle engines using and can be used directly as a kind of alternative fuel for automobile engine. But if we directly replace gasoline with Coke Oven Gas, there are still problems such as the recession of engine power performance, poor economy performance and other issues.This paper points out the status quo that vehicle retention in China swiftly boosting and the waste state of the coke oven gas, it studies the demand of engine for alternative fuel, as well as it introduces the classification and features of various alternative fuels, it summarizes the status of application and research between gas engine and coke oven gas fuel engine, it also introduces the four kinds of engine cylinder combustion model and two kinds of engine working process simulation software, finally it lists the main parameters of the research object of this article and the main research content of this article.Refer to the related literature, this paper summarizes the physical characteristics and chemical characteristics of combustion of coke oven gas and its main components, and mainly summarizes the combustion characteristic of the hydrogen and methane in internal combustion in cylinder, it can be the essential theoretical foundation of the follow-up work process. Then, we simplify the coke oven gas to an ideal mixed gas of components, based on the ideal mixture system total parameters of additive property and physical chemical parameters of the theoretical calculation formula; we can conveniently fast calculate the part of the main physical and chemical parameters of the coke oven gas values by establishing the physical and chemical parameters of coke oven gas using Simulink calculation model.This paper introduces the modeling theory foundation of calculation of internal combustion engine performance by using a certain V6 petrol engine as the original model, it utilizes the simulation software BOOST to establish engine working process of one dimension calculation model and the model is used to calculate the engine dimensions such as the effective engine torque, effective power and specific fuel consumption while burning gasoline and coke oven gas respectively. After comparison we can find that after the burning progress of coke oven gas, the type of engine specific fuel consumption decreased by 3% ~4%, fuel economy performance increase few, but the highest torque and power reduce nearly 20%, dynamic power performance decrease remarkably.Based on a one-dimensional model which is built BOOST of V6 petrol engine, using coke oven gas as fuel, this paper conducts the simulation research and make the appropriate correction by researching the successively of pressure ratio, compression ratio, ignition timing, air-fuel ratio and distribution phase, eventually it chooses pressure ratio of 2.08, the compression ratio is 9.5, ignition advance Angle is 1 ° CA, air-fuel ratio 17.5, inlet valve closing delay Angle of 57 ° CA, the exhaust valve opens advance Angle is 63 ° CA. Compared with the optimization before using and optimization performance after using, the engine burned coke oven gas to increase by about 7.25% for dynamic performance, the highest efficiency highest increase nearly 30% for economic performance. To sum up, after optimization the model of coke oven gas fuel engine performance and fuel economy have improvement to some extent.
