The Application Of Regional Culture In Landscape Design

Urban landscape construction is one of the key elements to express cultural heritage in regions. An urban landscape with distinguished features will give the city more profound impression and cultural deposits. At the same time, the regional historical culture can be an inevitable factor in the city landscapes construction. During the rapidly developed urbanization, the styles of cities get similar because of the oversight of regional culture. As a famous historic and cultural city, Wenshang county has become distinguished due to the region, religion, the influence of Confucianism and historical change.The regional culture of city is changing with updates as time gone by. The natural characteristic, cultural characteristic and economy characteristic make it not only inherit but also innovated. Considering the regional culture characteristics in city construction, it can vest new connation to them. Since it can indicate directions for the development of cities,culture, regional culture in particular, is the starting point and ultimate goal for city development. As the ultimate goal, culture development becomes realistic and mental home to humans.From the perspective of application analysis of regional culture characteristics of Wenshang county in city landscape design, this paper attempts to prove the positive implications by using documentary, theoretical method and exemplary argumentation.Specifically, the case in the paper based on the concept of regional culture and landscape design, and analyzes the landscape design of new cities,which can provide some creative opinions for future.The present paper consists of three chapters in total.Chapter One serves as a brief introduction to the research background, research contents and significance of the study as well as the technical methods adopted in the thesis writing.Based on the previous studies on this topic at home and abroad, some typical problems existing in current urban landscape design in China are proposed.Chapter Two is mainly about definition and relevant summarization, in which principles for classifying the related concepts are put forward. Meanwhile, theories related to local culture and cultural landscape are analyzed both generally and specifically in order to pave the way for further analysis.Chapter Three goes to the design principles abided by in integrating regional culture tolandscape design. On the one hand, major expression methods in landscape design are explained from the perspective of historical evolution, which gives a detailed analysis of the role that historical culture characteristics, continuity of Buddhist culture and ecological culture characters played in new landscape design of Wenshang County on the basis of nature,history and cultural heritage presented by Wenshang County.On the other hand, method of application to regional culture is expounded as one of the important factors as well.The case study of Wenshang County and its unique regional culture not only inspire the landscape design views in the future, but indicate the importance and trend of regional culture landscape design, which is the theoretical thinking reflected in this thesis.
