Fire and light shining on the cave forms a shadow,which is accessible by Plato's"cave Prisoners" beyond their cave.The light has broadened the human's horizon,whether the vision of the appearance is real or false.In the field of photography,the spotlight broadens people's horizons to a certain extent.meanwhile,it is assumed the connotation behind the appearance of this role.Photographers are constantly refreshing our visual experiences,from focusing on the natural light capture to utilizing active shaping of the artificial light.Initially,the reason for the flash light to emerge was due to the fact that us humans needed to obtain rapidly the images of scenes and objects.The flash light enables to reflect the images,sharp and clear,which seemed closer to 'reality'.As it develops,the flashlight not only started to meet the photographer's demand,but also increasingly became the photographer's manipulative tool,which was utilised into the artistic creation,and helped the photographers realized the mutual projection of subjective and objective art work.Martin Parr is such a photographer,active and contemporary.Since the 70s,he started to interpret the appearance and authentic of the consumptive world and people's strange behaviour by using flashlight.Among his opus;the interaction between flashlight and realism has developed an unusual potential,due to the adoption of the the flashlight.This dissertation not only illustrates the investigation of the application and development of flashlight,but also hope to have explained the definition of "being open and revealing" in photography via the analysis behind the concept of photography and technology applied.
