At present,the study of jade at home and abroad mainly focuses on the history and culture,the geological characteristics,the mineralogical properties and large instrument detection,and the study of mechanical properties of jade is almost blank.In this paper,three kinds of jade samples were selected to make standard strength test samples.They are Hetian jade which from Tashkurgan Tajik Xinjiang,Xiuyu jade from Xiuyan Liaoning,Lantian jade from Lantian Shanxi.This three kinds of jade samples were tested for tensile,uniaxial compressive strength and shear strength.According to the theory of rock failure and the theory of maximum tensile stress,the tensile strength of three kinds of jade is applied to the analysis of jade slenderness ratio.And the relationship between the tensile strength and the internal mineral structure of jade was obtained by microscopic analysis.The study found:Test the tensile strength of three kinds of jade,Rt ?=22.27Mpa;Rt?=15.09Mpa;Rt ?=9.58Mpa.Obviously Rt?>Rt?>Rt?.Compared with ordinary rock,the tensile strength of the three kinds of jade is stronger than other ordinary rock tensile strength.Test the compressive strength of three kinds of jade,Rc?=13 8.93Mpa;Rc?=68.62Mpa;Rc ?=21.20Mpa.Obviously Rc?>Rc?>Rc?.The Poisson's ratio of the three kinds of jade is obtained,?c?=0.46;?c ?=0.56;?c ?=0.45.Obviously?c?>?c?>?c?,and Xiuyu jade has a strong ability to deform.Compared with ordinary rock,Hetian Qingyu has higher compressive strength,Xiuyu compressive strength in the middle,and Lantian jade has smaller compressive strength than other ordinary rock.The test data of shear strength of Hetian Qingyu are unstable and the dispersion is strong.The stress fitting curve is y=0.5381x + 43.576.The shear strength test data of the Xiuyu sample can be plotted as y=1.0931x +11.586;The shear strength test data of the Lantian jade sample can be plotted as y= 1.7141x + 1.8516;It can be seen that the three kinds of jade in the Lantian jade have a larger internal friction angle,and Hetian jade has a greater cohesion.When the three kinds of jade carved into the cantilever beam,simply supported beam,outrigger beam and inclined beam model,in order to get high jade carving products yield,three kinds of jade carving related data should follow the corresponding inequality.Comparison of three kinds of jade beams,Hetian Qingyu will be carved longer and thinner than Xiuyu and Lantian jade.In the four carved beams,the outer beam is longer and thinner than the simply supported beam,cantilever beam and the inclined beam.And the rectangular section beam is longer and thinner than the circular section beam.Hetian Qingyu rock samples have a strong integrality,under the polarized microscope,it always show the blanket-like structure,microfiber crystal structure,etc.Xiuyan rock samples always show scaly interspersed structure and Lantian jade samples always show massive structure.Comparing the structural characteristics and tensile strength of the three kinds of jade rock samples,it can be seen that the mineral structure and grain size of jade are affect its tensile strength,and the uniformity and integrity of the internal structure also affect the tensile strength.The jade which with fibrous minerals has higher tensile strength than others.And the jade with small particle size,good cohesion and good integrity has higher tensile strength.Select jade carving raw materials should tend to these two materials.
