The annual production capacities of Jilin Petrochemical Company Ethylene Glycol Plant refined ethylene epoxide,ethylene glycol,and diethylene glycol are 50000,88000 and 8000 t,respectively.In recent years,suffering from the low-cost of ethylene glycol in Middle East,the development of domestic coal preparation of ethylene glycol,and the establish of many new large-scale ethylene glycol plants,Jilin Petrochemical Company ethylene glycol plant becomes more and more inferior in competition because of the backward technologies and high production costs.In view of this unfavorable situation,Jilin Petrochemical Company renews the strategy with a plan to change to convert the excess ethylene glycol into refined ethylene epoxide for improving product distribution.Since ethylene epoxide is not suitable for long-distance transportation due to its dangerous properties,its applications are mainly limited to the areas near the production plants.Therefore,unlike the great effect of coal chemical industry on the glycol market,no much influence from the import of ethylene epoxide should be considered.So far,the domestic requirement for demand ethylene epoxide remains high growth every year with significant profit.In 2015-2016,based on the use of advanced refining technology of ethylene epoxide,the production devices have been modified.Such an improved reactor has been put into operation in July,2016.To date,it works smoothly with the designed production capacity.After modification,the reactor can be used for totally producing either the ethylene glycol or the ethylene epoxide.The reactor flexibility has been remarkably improved.Thus,the production process could be easily switched according to changes in the market conditions,which may greatly enhance the competitive ability.The thesis focuses on research of the modification program and the optimized operation of the improved reactor etc.
