Art quilts as one of the decorative art design form, with the influence of modernism culture, gradually draw the attention and appreciate, it plays an important role in life and display, no matter personal or designers are using the quilt love elements as ornaments that give special feelings in space. However, in the process from life quilts to artistic works, "quilt" as an art form of innovation works has a strong aesthetic value. With the development of art design continuously, the artists break the traditional ideas, put the unique performance and symbol with time significance in application, it's not just a flat display, however it shapes as the three-dimentional with the theme of quilting elements as the modern fiber art.Because I choose quilts art for graduation design, I can realize the overall structure, material choosing, content expressing, language, technique performance in the creative process and make a discussion of theory and practice, this article expresses the practice experience and innovative ideas in the process of quilting art design, and combines experimental dye bleaching process with various types of jean fabric to express color integrity and unity, the combination of hand embroidery and mechanical sewing, makes African clay figures as basic subject, try composition forms in bold and exaggerated characters modelling, showed the quilting works with thematic series display which has a great visual impact. Based on the graduation design as the center, to expresses personal comprehension for modern quilts art, describes the essential difference between the traditional quilts art and modern quilts art, combines innovative textile fabrics and decorative pattern to form art of modern quilts, makes traditional national culture inheritance and breakthrough innovation in accords with trend of the times.
