Study On The Product Quality Of Chinese Exports To The US

Before the financial crisis,the export China showing explosive growth,From 1995 to 2009,the exports growth from 1487.87 billion raise to 2092.6 billion,the annual growth is rate of 16.09%.But China exports are still at a low price,low value-added labor-intensive products in the international division of labor and often in the low-end value chain;"Chinese manufacturing" although throughout the world,but it is difficult to link to the "price quality".And it is rarely appearing high quality Chinese product in the international market.Export structure to a large extent is not due to the technological content of export products of local enterprises to improve,and more closely related to the processing trade and foreign enterprises participation.In order to study the trend of changes in Chinese export product quality level,this paper selects the first 21 categories of products in the United States that the United States import from China as sample,based on the reality of China's foreign trade and the theory of previous scholars,we use the decomposition model to decompose China's exports to the United States growth rate of,in order to explore the deep mechanism of its export growth,and carry out specific measurements.we also use nested logit model to measure the specific quality index.Finally,we measure the impact of processing trade,foreign direct investment and R & D expenditure on the quality of our country's export products,the main conclusions are as follows:(1)The results show that from the overall China products exported to the United States the quality has not been effectively improved,and even declined.From the product categories,footwear and textile and other labor-intensive products decreased significantly.From the industry perspective,Chinese has comparative advantage in the export of labor-intensive products the quality has greatly decreased;on the contrary,the capital intensive and technology intensive product quality index has obvious upward trend.This means that the overall quality of American products exports fell Chinese are mostly caused by decline in labor intensive product quality,that Chinese is under threat in the labor intensive products export advantage.(2)From the influencing factors analysis,processing trade,R & D investment on the quality of China's export products are to enhance the role,of which R & D expenditures on quality and enhance the role is most obvious.According to the above conclusions,this paper presents the corresponding policy recommendations: to promote economic growth,improve the quality of export products from endogenous;to increase investment in research and development of enterprises,encourage enterprises to innovate,scientific and rational use of foreign capital,and increase the spillover effects of FDI.
