Along with economic globalization and the development of socialist market economy in China, financial competition in urban and rural areas is intensifying. Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank, which is located in the economically advanced Pearl River Delta region and has just finished transformation, is also facing such threats and challenges. For Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank, it is extremely important to sort out how to use its advantages, seize opportunities, implement market-based strategic reform, pool resources together in order to form a new competitive edge and realize scientific, sustainable, and healthy development. To maintain its competiveness in this vigorous competition, Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank needs to keep improving its level of scientific development, refine its shortcomings in the course of development and study operational strategies to meet the demand of an ever-changing market.This thesis takes Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank as an example, analyzes the business climate it is in after its transformation, and summarizes its problems. Then, based on the theory of operational strategies, this thesis further discusses Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank's operational strategies. This thesis concludes that Nanhai Rural Commercial Bank should be customer-oriented, rely on talents, mechanical innovation, science and technology. It should strengthen its position by focusing on community banks and financial services for all. It should delve into its local advantages to have smart marketing. It should also improve its marketing and services for high value added customers, push forward transformation and upgrading, optimize its operational structure, improve its profitability, and strengthen risk management and control to ensure its core competitiveness and further momentum of development. In this way, it will become a commercial bank with a strong local presence and national business coverage.Meanwhile, it detailed analyzes the measures for the implementation and effectiveness of operational strategy of NRCB. Finally, this thesis, in accordance with the thinking patterns of operational strategic management and according to currently encountered bottlenecks and difficulties of NRCB, makes statement in two aspects of strategic implementation and strategic control. In terms of strategy implementation, it provides platforming in retail banking, linking of investment banking and loan in corporation banking, specialization of organizational structure. In terms of strategic control, it provides the recommendation that the bank should establish strategic control system.
