In recent years, the process of urbanization continues to accelerate in Shanxi Province, but long-term, "a coal-dominant" in Shanxi has also led to a single industrial structure, weak scientific and technological progress, which hampered the development of new urbanization in Shanxi Province. Focus on new urbanization development situation and path selection for reducing regional differences in the development of the new urbanization in Shanxi Province, promoting the healthy development of new urbanization in Shanxi Province has a certain practical significance.Taking Shanxi Province as the main object, lateral and longitudinal comparison, the new level of urbanization development in Shanxi Province from 2004 to 2013 and the new level of urbanization development in Shanxi Province 11 prefecture-level cities in 2013 were analyzed. This paper described the current new urbanization research background and significance; Secondly, the new urbanization of the relevant concepts and theories are briefly summarized; Again, to build a comprehensive development evaluation index system of new urbanization, determined using entropy method each index weight, measure out the development level of new urbanization. Spss19.0 software while using the new level of urbanization development in Shanxi Province 11 prefecture-level cities cluster analysis to understand new urbanization differences in regional development in Shanxi Province; Finally, according to new urbanization development situation in Shanxi Province explore for new urbanization development path.Results of this study show that the population urbanization rate biggest weight, relative to the average weight of other indicators; in Shanxi Province the new level of urbanization development from 2004 to 2013 showing an overall upward trend, but the growth rate is not stable, it fluctuates significantly; the higher the level of Taiyuan and Jincheng, according to the results of cluster analysis, the level of new urbanization can be roughly divided into four categories of development in Shanxi Province, named highest level, higher level, middle level and low-level.
