In China, with the development of newly-build ability for the railway wagon of the enterprises, the capacity is more surplus, and the fierce competition for selling railway wagon has been extended from the domestic market to international market. In order to gain the advantage from the competition, the ERP is generally applied to work by each enterprise. From the daily work of author and the reference, the results are concluded that the range of ERP application is general the same by all the enterprises, and the relevant staff have published a large number of journal articles about the application of ERP. But the detailed analysis and summary are not provided by the enterprises during the promotion process and application problem in later period of ERP.In this article, the promotion and application of the ERP of CSR Meishan Co., Ltd is regarded as object of study. According to the practical situation of the newly-build enterprise of railway freight wagon, the relevant concepts and features of the ERP and logistics are explained, and the production control pattern combined by the MRPII and JIT, which is suitable for this industry, is put forward. The background of promotion the ERP is fully introduced according to the analysis of the sales market, the analysis of the wagon’s structure, the feature analysis of the supply chain and the logistics feature introduction of the interior of enterprise. According to the summary of the first losing experience, the five factors should be considered when the ERP is implemented. On the basis of the second time of implementation process of the ERP the ’pain’ of ERP implementation is shown according to the immense changes caused by adjustment of institution, the strict requirements of the basic data of ERP implementation are fully elaborated according to the establishment of the BOM structure, the rules of item code and its maintenance of standard of scheduled time and quantity, establishment of warehouse booking, stocktaking and orders; the adjustment of institution, process rebuilding and preparing the data to be key and difficulty of ERP implementation are demonstrated, the key control points and method to resolve the problem of ERP implementation are put forward and focusing on the process and strictly assess the results are emphasized. The achievements of ERP are introduced from the perfecting the system, changing the concept, perfecting the business, changing the on-site, periods of R&D, ration and inventory turnover, etc. The main problems and the reason, harm and the response measures caused in the application period are analyzed in detail, and the results are concluded to implement the ERP at the end.The results include:changing the mind, analyzing the product feature and supply and marketing environment, focusing on the adjustment of institution, process rebuilding and data preparing is the key and difficulty of ERP implementation, emphasizing the key is to refine the process and strengthen assessment efforts,highlighting whether the maintenance of operation in later period and optimizing management is the fundament of gaining the success of ERP implementation or not. The specific examples and detailed analysis provide the actual reference to the similar enterprise to implement the ERP, and also provide the practical guide to the enterprise and team who will implement the ERP, the units and individuals who will carry out the material management.
