The Empirical Study Of Corporate Governance And Social Responsibility In Critical Pollutant Enterprises

Heavily-polluted enterprises have responsibility in promoting energy saving, emission cutting and environmental maintenance. As The national economic and social development of the People’s Republic of China thirteenth five-year plan outlineis is put forward, it is expected that environmental protection input hits a record high, and ecological environmental protection gets further attention. While ecological protection is inseparable from the enterprise participation, enterprises need to focus on environmental input in realizing social obligation. It is generally accepted that improving the corporate governance structure can promote corporate social responsibility performance. The key is the association between the two element which is mentioned above in heavily-polluted enterprises.The study of the association between corporate governance and corporate performance has been mature, however,there is little study about the effect of company governance on social responsibility in one specific industry,and the analysis of special cases is unrepresentative for some industries. In this paper, through the establishment of heavy pollution enterprise social responsibility performance indicators, from the internal governance structure and external governance environment two aspects study, it tries to seek the key element of realizing firm social responsibility for heavily-polluted enterprises, thus providing suggestions for better social responsibility performance of heavily-polluted firms.Based on the research hypothesis, with typical polluting enterprises listed companies as research samples, it combines with the company’s main stakeholders of weight and the contribution rate and designs the heavy pollution enterprise social responsibility performance index system. At the same time, it chooses the key internal and external governance variables to establish the general regression model. The heavily-polluted enterprise samples are selected from 2012-2014 corporate social responsibility report and annual financial reports, as well as CSMAR database of listed companies. We ultimately get 110 valid measurements. In social responsibility report sample firms revealed the current environmental protection input data.
