The dissertation aims at the improvement of material system in the assembly workshop of S company. With the basic concept of lean logistics and related research as theoretical basis, it carries on the deeply analysis and research on the internal material distribution under the multi-item small-lot manufacturing mode. The improvement strategy was proposed based on the perspective of distributing quantity, time and classification of material between warehouse and workshop. For different type of materials, we carry on ABC-XYZ analysis to define the value and fluctuation properties of materials. Combining the advantages of the order-based distribution and time-based distribution, we put forward the method of periodic distributing to the divided production process.Firstly, in view of imbalance between assembly process and testing process, the dissertation applies production line balancing principle to reasonable split and merges of assembly process, which solves the inconsistency of the assembly and testing Takt Time and reduces WIP in the handover area of assembly process and test process. Secondly, synchronization material system is build in this thesis so as to enhance the quality of information transferring and sharing between warehouse and workshop. Thirdly, in consideration of the complexity of material management, we use IT technology to establish the rapid response system, realized the quick solution to the problems arising from the production. Finally, with the flexible application of Kankan concept, "double box system" is established to manage the material which is characterized with low value and stable requirements.
