Application Of Lean Management Theory In Software Project Management

In recent years, the development of software companies is taking an increasingly important role in China's national economy. But the software industry research data show that the successful rate of software projects is not high. The low-level management for the software project of software enterprises is one of the fundamental reasons for the failure of software projects. Taking E company as an example, the thesis has studied the adoption of lean management theory in the management of software projects.This thesis has drawn references from aspects such as the emergence background, concept core, concept principles and production management of the management theories and technology related to the “lean management concept”. Taking E company, a software product enterprise with representativeness, the paper has described the enterprise from such aspects as the overview of the company, products, organizational structure and daily operation and conducted a deep analysis of the problems in the company. Through the argument on the proposal, drawing upon and introducing such management theories and production tools from the lean management concept as “continuous flow”, “value flow”, “pull production” and “Kanban management”, the thesis has designed the proposals from the perspectives as “daily work combing”, “work location adjustment”, “organizational structure adjustment” and “communication system building”. Through the implementation of proposals and the accumulation of implementation result data, the paper has carried out the argumentative explanations on the comparison of result before and after the implementation of proposals from the following aspects such as R&D efficiency of software products, daily working time of staffs, quantitative statistics of R&D work, R&D quality, and long-term plan evidence of software products. Finally, the paper has put forward constructive prospects to the adoption and reference of lean management theory in the management of software product projects.The proposal implementation result shows it is feasible to introduce and refer to the lean management theory in the software project management of SME software enterprises. This research can enrich the software project management theories. At the same time it can provide guidance to the practice of software project management of counterpart industries and other software enterprises.
