Team creativity is an important source of organizational innovation and competitive advantage, whereas High Performance Work Systems(HPWS) is a potentially contextual powerful driver of team creativity and performance. This study explores the relationship between HPWS and team creativity in China, which has been a hot topic in scientific circle for several decades, and alike an important issue that should be clarified in innovation process. In the first part of this dissertation, I outlined the research background, significance, purpose, method, framework and several theoretical contributions. Meanwhile, I reviewed and elaborated several concepts such as HPWS, team creativity, team process, etc. The purpose of this part is to give a detailed arrangement for the whole dissertation in general. In the second part, I reviewed and summarized the literatures relating to team creativity, HPWS and team process and several gaps of prior studies were discussed. I firstly reviewed the theory of team creativity and its antecedent variables. Second, I reviewed the literature relevant to HPWS, and its relationship with team creativity. Finally, I reviewed the literature relevant to team process, the literatures associated with the relationship between team process and creativity were reviewed. In the third part, based on the Input-Process-Output model and perspective of team process, a total of 339 nested questionnaires from 80 teams in 16 enterprises were used to examine the effect of HPWS on team creativity. The results showed that team efficacy mediates the cross-level relationship between the ability-oriented HR systems and team creativity, and team knowledge sharing mediates the cross-level relationship between the motivation-oriented HR systems and team creativity. In the final part of the dissertation, I summarized the conclusions, theoretical contributions and practical indications of this research, and the limitations of the present study and the directions for future study were also discussed.
