As the mold industry competition is becoming increasingly fierce, in order to get production orders many manufacturers will deliberately undercut when quotation, this vicious competition may cause the price of mold quotation is lower than the actual cost of production. So, mold pricing is not only related to the vital interests of customers but also affect the formulation of business objectives, it is a process of a comprehensive reflection of production and management level of the mold manufacturing enterprises. However, with the rapid development of mold manufacturing industry, the traditional quotation method already could not meet the needs of market competition, because it rely too much on bidding experience, difficult to standardization and normalization. Therefore, designing a new set of mold quotation system which can satisfy the user requirements in accuracy and speed is very necessary. The development of computer technology, database technology and information technology provides a new way to solve this problem, the fine stamping mold quotation method of automobile panels based on the part feature and the design of the corresponding quotation system is on this basis.This paper is based on the automotive stamping mold as the research object, combined with the previous research situation of mold quotation, deeply discussed the structural characteristics of automobile covering parts and the relationship between the part structure and the mold price, divided the part structure into several features, regarded the mold cost as the sum of each single item cost, explore the relationship between the features size of part and the mold fees, proposed the fine mold quotation method. This method has the advantages of fine accurate, stable results, clear and specific cost details and so on, it is able to accurately estimate the true manufacturing costs of the mold.In order to achieve this fine mold quotation process, some key technologies need to be resolved, such as the rules of feature auto-detect, the calculation method of mold and its components size, the relationship between the size of part features and mold cost. With the support of these technologies, combined with the actual production process of the mold, we constructed a mold quotation system based on the NX software platform which contains the interface of process plan, feature detect, processing unit distribution, setting of mold structure and calculation result. And deeply studied the key technologies related to this quotation system such as the rules of feature auto-detect, the calculation method of mold and its components size, the relationship between the size of part features and mold cost, to ensure fast and efficient operation of the quotation system.In the end of the paper, some automobile panel was taken as examples to estimate the price of the mold and count the estimation time respectively through weight quotation method, man hour quotation method and the fine mold quotation method, to verify the validity and practicability of the system from the two aspects of the estimation results and spend time.
